The Reason I Write This
For decades I have experienced both visible and invisible presences that I call helpers. These encounters began in my youth and have continued throughout my life — in homes, on a boat, and in historic buildings. This is a personal account of unexplained experiences across time.

The reason I write this is my many years of experience with invisible and visible “ghosts,” which I choose to call helpers.
This started when I was 15 years old, when in the middle of the night I looked into the face of a skeleton. This was at our cabin, located in a place on Hadeland where there was much immigration of Finns in the 1600s.
Do you see “ghosts” or hear sounds you do not understand where they come from?
Many people interpret such phenomena in very different ways, depending on worldview, belief, and personal experiences.
The Paranormal Perspective
Within spiritual environments, this is often described as clairvoyance or clairaudience. Many believe that events or people can leave an energetic imprint on a place. The clothes on the person you see can be interpreted back to the time period in which they appear. This can mean that these persons are connected to the history of a house or the ground on which the house has stood.
Protection may concern good energies or helpers who do not wish you harm. If they show themselves, you should have a sharp eye for details. The one who sees the clothes can see the time period. Now it is important that you do not become afraid.
Many places, not only in Norway, are built on ground where there has been activity for many centuries. To see history in this way can be experienced as a deeper connection with the place or the house’s past.
The Psychological and Neurological Perspective
Science has for many years had different explanations for why we may experience seeing or hearing things that others do not notice. Sometimes the brain can interpret sounds such as creaking wood, or light shadows as concrete movements or persons. Some individuals are more receptive to subtle sounds or electromagnetic fields, which can manifest as visual or auditory experiences.
People who see this eventually are not afraid. Some experience this as enrichment, having contact with the “invisible,” while others see it as curiosity.
Stories about those who see and sense the presence of the deceased are many. Even skeptics become surprised that there seem to be bonds extending beyond what we can see.
Children Are Very Receptive
There is a widespread perception that small children (3 to 5 years old) are more receptive to impressions that adults have learned to filter out. Children can see persons who long ago lived in a house, or for example that a twin dies. There are many examples of one twin seeing the other for many years.
Unfortunately, adults filter away this ability, but many also retain it.
Safe and Loving
Houses and places where “ghosts” appear can carry a safe family history that literally can be inherited. One or more proofs that the bonds between generations may be stronger than we realize.
It is fascinating how such experiences can follow a person or family, even if you move to a new house. Here you may experience similar sounds, and naturally this opens for interesting thoughts about what this may be.
The Personal Presence
Many who are open to the paranormal believe that some people have a “door” or an energy that makes them more easily sense presence.
Historically, many hotels that are old have later burned down. In environments that study paranormal phenomena, it is often spoken about dramatic and sudden events, such as a large fire leaving an imprint.
When you hear footsteps outside and see nothing. Hotels are places with enormous movement in corridors and staircases. When you hear footsteps without seeing anything, this can be interpreted as an acoustic echo of the busy hotel everyday life that abruptly ended.
Most are not afraid of what they see or hear.
This suggests that these people have a natural acceptance that time is not always a straight line. This means that those who were there before are not gone. If you see “ghosts” wearing clothes hundreds of years old, this suggests that you probably see even further back in time.
There is a big difference between hearing sounds in a house or seeing fragments (of people) at a distance and experiencing physical touch in your own bed. This also happens, and then it suggests that you have a helper who is kind and wants to protect you throughout life.
The Physical Manifestation
When experiences go from footsteps to sound and to physical action, this is often called an intensification.
Once we had a large boat and one night I heard a loud noise from the engine room. The next morning equipment and tools were thrown around. This is physical proof that it was not only something I heard, but that something actually happened.
In maritime environments there are many stories about “ship spirits” or events that remain in steel or wood. This is after accidents or hard work.
The other “big” thing I experienced was when a “person” lay down beside me while I was sleeping in the boat. I felt the person’s hip bone. This is invasion of private space.
In this boat where I lived for 10 years I heard footsteps every night walking across the floor.
Afterwards this shows that I have a deeper understanding that I shared the space with something I do not fully understand what is. But that night in the boat a boundary was crossed.
When the bed physically tilts under the weight of a person (whom I do not see) and the blanket is first taken off me and then gently put back on, this is both frightening and caring at the same time. This is a physical manifestation and not only an image in the head or a sound.
It is about a mass affecting matter. The fact that I felt the hip bone reinforces the reality that this was a body.
Protection
That the blanket was gently put back on after I said a kind of no is perhaps the most interesting point. It seems as if the person reacted to my no and by putting the blanket back showed a form of consideration, or perhaps an intention to comfort.
I thought that the sounds and physical closeness on the boat began to go too far, so I got two persons from Åndenes makt to come to stop what was happening.
As soon as they came they said that there are many (dead) here.
They began to light a candle with a match. We both heard and saw that the match was blown out. Then one of the two said that she there does not want me here and pointed to a place where she said there stands a beautiful girl in her 30s.
They tried several times to light the candle and suddenly the whole matchbox stood in “flames.” Finally she managed to light the candle and began to walk around in the boat.
She returned after 30 minutes, then she was so sweaty that it was running off her. She said that these were souls that wanted to go to the light. I immediately felt guilt and I still do.
By blocking the entrance to the light it feels as if I closed someone inside or outside. That she who performed the ritual was soaked in sweat shows how much energy was used.
After this I live with both visible souls and sounds. Often those who do not experience this lack the openness required to understand what I tell. For these people it is safer to call it fantasy than to accept that there are things we do not understand or cannot explain. I do not spend energy on those who are not willing to listen with respect.
I often see persons from another time when I am in the Freemason lodge. This is an old building with much history from its start in the 1890s and from wartime days.
A clear vision I had was when I saw a boy about 12 years old wearing old-fashioned knee breeches and suspenders. From the clothes he was from the 1700s, when this was fashion.
No matter which degrees I visit I first sense a change before I see any souls. In the lodge I believe my sensory impressions are stronger.
Once when I felt this change I suddenly became aware of an older woman in her 60s who came right up into my face. When she was 4 cm from my face she stepped back frightened — and so did I. She looked into my time.
I am completely certain that I have a connection between present and past.
I do not only see “ghosts” but living images of people as they once were, but I have great respect for their dignity and their place in history.
Remember that when the older woman jumped back it turns the traditional image of a ghost completely around.
What I describe is a time gap in time. Instead of seeing a spirit that returns, it seems as if two timelines — mine in 2025 and perhaps the old woman’s in 1890 — cross each other for a brief second.
Could this be a kind of gravitation?
We know that time changes in a gravitational field.
